5 weeks, going on 6, how are you?
Hello, my fellow Five-weekers!
Just wondering how you are all doing, and what your activity level is. I had SAH and it's taking a little longer to return to activities than my Lap friends.
I feel like week 5 is kind of lost between 4 and 6 weeks. I'm doing well, just tired of not being able to do a lot yet. Looking forward to returning to part-time work next week. I think that will make me feel like life will return to normal eventually.
Some of us are waiting for Dr. appts. at 6 weeks. Are you getting anxious?
Best wishes to all of you!

(had tah 1/21/05)I am at the mid 5 week point. I have a lot of energy back interestingly I am happiest when walking, and least happy when standing for long periods. I have been amazed at how much time and taking it easy have assisted in the recovery. let people pamper you while you can.
I had my drs. appointment at 4 1/2 weeks it was o.k. had an internal exam and it was painless( I was scared)

5 weeks, going on 6, how are you?
Greetings,
I am feeling much better this week than last. My energy level is up quite a bit but still tire easily and my body lets me know when I am trying to do too much.
I have my post op appt this Friday (4 Mar) and anxious to see how that goes. I had an infection in my incision and was put on antibiotics. It is also healing very slow because I am pre diabetic.
I was let go by my company while on 6 weeks unpaid medical leave so I am looking for another job in Colorado where I should have never left. I was scheduled to return to work on Mar 7, 05. I think it was a blessing because it made me prioritize what was was really important in my life and what makes me happy and going home will do that. Asheville is quite beautiful but it's not home. (smile)
I lost quite a bit of weight since 1/24/05 and my appetite is still not what it used to be. My taste buds have changed and I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what I want to eat these days. Nothing that I enjoyed in the past seems to taste the same for me now. I don't know if this is temporary or not...we'll see.
My younger sister is scheduled for a TAH on Mar 29, with her pre op on the 14th of Mar so I am happy to be able to give her support having gone through it already and I also had her join this website. It has helped me a lot and I am sure that it will do the same for her.
Anyway, that's my progress so far...I pray that we all continue to do well and be there for one another.
Peace and Blessings, MzTumari

5 weeks, going on 6, how are you?
Tomorrow is 5 weeks for me and I am finally beginning to feel human. I had a 4 week checkup with an internal and everything seems fine. It was not painful. There is still lots of swelling from where they attached the support structures to the vaginal wall. That is what is causing much of the posterior pressure. It gets much worse when I stand for very long.
I am enjoying walking when the weather permits and some stationary biking when it is icy and cold. I still feel tired and spend quite a bit of time resting. I have slept well a few nights but am still struggling a bit at night. Swelly belly is an accepted fact of life and its size is directly proportional to the amount of exercise done.
The hot flashes have returned full force, but I am hoping to ride the storm and not increase my HRT. Time will tell.
I have learned that time is my friend and with patience most of my concerns correct themselves.
This site is wonderful in letting us know when we are within the realm of normal in our recoveries. It has a great calming effect to know you are not alone. Thanks to all the sisters who have shared their storied and offered support.
I will see the doctor again at 8 weeks and that will be a good time to talk about any residual effects.

Feeling great!!!!
Hi sisters!
I'm 5 weeks today and I feel great. Have my one and only post-op appointment this Thursday. Can't wait to be cleared. I've been feeling fantastic since week two. Needed pain meds the first night home only. I feel really blessed that my recovery went so smoothly. I went back to work last week, but only worked two days. I work in the front office of an elementary school and between President's Day holiday and two snow days - I only worked two days. Well, I haven't been to work this week yet because of snow days yesterday and today. So another short work week for me. A nice way to get back into the swing of work. The first day back I was tired at the end of the day but managed to work all day. I passed a really big stitch last night - sorta shocked when I saw it. It was about an inch and a half long and had a knot still in it! That's the only one I've noticed. Any body else have this happen? Well, good luck to all you 5 and 6 weekers out there - we've made it through the hard part!!!!

5 weeks, going on 6, how are you?
So far so good!
This past Sunday I returned to playing soccer in my women's over-30 league, I could not believe how good I felt. My acceleration was a little slow, but I almost scored two goals.
In comparing bowel and bladder "feelings" before and after the surgery, I can say that the urges to go feel differently than they did before. Not in a bad way, it just feels different. I'm thinking this is a permanent thing due to the fact that a neighboring organ was removed.
I know one thing, my bladder can hold a LOT now. I sit on the pot and think omigosh how long can this go on????? ROTFL. I picture it inside my abdomen just taking up all the empty space!
Other than that, I guess I'm pretty much back to normal.
Oh, my appetite has changed. Not sure why. Just not really hungry at mealtimes anymore. I think that's kind of weird and I don't know why that is either.
Blessings, prayers, and speedy recoveries to all,
--QB

I am feeling pretty good actually. I do tend to do a lot more than maybe I should be and I end up just exhausted. I am having a very tired day today and just do not want to do much of anything but I figure that is just my body making sure I rest a bit.

5 weeks, going on 6, how are you?
I too am feeling pretty good! I went back to work last week and it went pretty well. I am definately sleeping better at night, as I am so tired when I get home!! But otherwise, it is good to get back into a more normal routine and I love the fact that my period was due last week, and HA! I didn't have that horrible pain!! I wonder when you quit looking in your panties for that little surprise!! But I am glad that it is over and I have been fortunate to have a very normal and uneventful recovery. I wish everyone could do so well. Hope that keeps up.
I so glad to have found this site and know that so many people have experienced exactly what I have and have had some of the very same questions. It makes you feel normal to know that you aren't alone on the road you are traveling!!
Thanks to all!
