How long to take off work?

smalltowngurl;

Hello! I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know about my surgery, I had a LAVH/BSO 12-18-08, I came home before 9:00 am the next day. I felt tired, and sore, not pain just soreness. My surgery was on a thursday and on that saturday I traveled 1 hour to my daughters basketball game then back home. (with my docs approval of course). I feel good now I am 4 weeks and 5 days post op. My doc told me I needed to be off 6 weeks, I am a nurse in a radiation oncology treatment center and although not very often but I do have to lift patients, so thats a no no. My biggest problem is I am usually always on the go and being home this long I have gotten a little stir crazy. I recieved some great suggestions from our group of friends known as "hystersisters" on how to help pass time. Good luck. Wishing you a speedy recovery. God bless.

How long to take off work?

I'm scheduled for a LAVH on Feb. 3rd. My dr's note said "up to 6-8 weeks." I work in a school and am on my feet much of the day and work another part-time evening job three nights a week where I'm on my feet the entire time. I was hoping to take only 4-5 weeks, but am starting to rethink that. If I take the whole 6 weeks, I'll go back to work for one week and then have a week long spring break. I have plenty of sick days since I never take off. I can't imagine being off that long, but I will if I have to.

How long to take off work?

The standard leave is:

2-3 wks for DaVinci Robot assisted

4 wks for laparascopic or vaginal

6 wks for abdominal incision

Those are BASIC number that agencies, such a disability companies, work from. Each case is different and it may be longer or shorter. Also depends on type of work.

Personally, I am 2wks post op, and worried that 6wks won't be enough how i feel now! Hopefully I will begin to improve quickly. Some women have far more pain than others. You won't really know until afterward, especially after the first few weeks when most complications arise.

I think telling them 6 was a good idea. You'll have to just see how you feel as you recover.

Good luck,

CC

How long to take off work?

I had a LAVH/LSO. I had planned on taking 6wks. When I went for my post-op to be released back to work he gave me two more weeks. I do lots of heavy lifting and he said that I wasn't healed enough yet. So I actually took a little over 8wks. The best thing is to plan on 6wks but let your boss know that your time frame to return to work could change.

How long to take off work?

I've signed up for 6 weeks off from work and hope I'm ready to go back then. They seem to be counting on me being back at exactly 6 wks, so I hope I'm ready. There's not really much lifting involved with dental assisting, but we tend to run around quite a bit in my office.

How long to take off work?

I had a LAVH and my doctor told me a MIN. of 2-6 weeks. I told my work 3 weeks. Depending on my healing of next week, I may go back part-time. Four hours a day but we will have to wait and see how I heal.... It depends on your body. I am 10 days post-op and so far so good. Still have limited activity and can not drive yet. I tried to make cookies yesterday and I was exhausted so I can't imagine working 10 hours a day....Your body will tell you when it is ready to do more....

You will have to remember that all princesses heal differently, and no two princesses experiences are identical. Your surgical team will evaluate your unique situation, and will recommend the appropriate recovery time for you. Feel free to discuss your concerns with your doctors. As it's been said before, you only have one chance to heal properly, so please be sure to follow your doctors' recovery advice. And believe me, 6 weeks will go by so fast, you won't believe it! Take the time off as a chance to connect to your new self....you will experience many changes in your body and mind, so you will want to have all the time you can to get acquainted with the new you.
