10 Months Post and Still Unhappy
It will be a year in March since I had my lavh/bso and I still wish I hadn't had it done...I still don't feel like my hormones are right. I am taking 1.25 Cenestin everyday and an additional .45 Cenestin every other day. My biggest regret is that I didn't get a second opinion and that no corrective surgery was done at the time, even though I expressed a concern for needing...I have Ibs and fibromyalgia also...I believe that I have a cystocele and rectocele...I was told that they didn't think I had a problem with the latter two..to give it a year and see. Well, now it seems to be worse. I have to urinate all the time. Seems like I don't finish and have to go back again...which is a real bother at work. Seems like with bm's even when I can go, that I don't finish that either...I don't know. I really am afraid of surgery but since all this other has been done and it didn't help my other symptoms, feel like it is the only choice....???

10 Months Post and Still Unhappy
Hey Sister ,
I am a little further along than you (hyster anniversary in Feb), but I do understand what you are talking about. I have a lawyer friend who tells me to take all the information I have, make the best decision possible -based on that information at that time and then never look back....which of course is easier said than done. My sister-in-law is a surgeon and she said it can take up to a year to heal from this type of surgery. I know it's hard to talk with your doctor, but if he/she doesn't hear your concerns, I would suggest finding one that does. If you are experiencing pain/difficulty someone should listen and give you a plan to fix it.
Good luck....

10 Months Post and Still Unhappy
Hi itsme,
I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time with this. It is frustrating to be so far out from surgery and still not feel like your old self. I keep hearing it takes a full year to feel up to par again and I think that might be about right for a lot of Sisters.
I feel concerned that you're not feeling like your hormones are at the best levels, and that you're having problems urinating and having bm's. Have you had a chance to make it clear to your doctor that you're having these problems? In my experience I often had to be VERY persistent with my doctors to let them know I wanted relief and wasn't going to leave them alone until I got it. I think some would get annoyed with me but I got results. I must say it's not in my nature to be confrontational, but...I decided I really needed to stand up for my health.
If your doctor isn't listening or doesn't seem to take you seriously enough, I would definitely recommend a second or even a third opinion. I had to see seven doctors in a row to finally find out about needing a hyst due to a serious medical condition (it usually doesn't take NEARLY this many doctors! ). It was exhausting, but I finally ended up with the right doctors. I always let them know of frustrating symptoms right away and they try to help me get relief and solve any problems right away.
I do hope you'll get in touch with your doc if you haven't already. And I really hope you'll start to feel like yourself again soon! We're here for you whenever you need us.
