Is it normal?

I am 4 weeks 2 days post op TVH A&P Repairs bladder tack and urethra sling. I have not seen the first stitch. The Dr and some on this site have talked about stitches coming out on their on. I have been to my 2 week two week check up and the Dr said every thing looked great, he said that I needed to be careful and lifted no restrictions. He said I had hundreds of stitches that he could still see with the internal exam. Just wondering if and when I might see them start to come out. I think this will make me feel like I'm healing....is that crazy? Any info would be helpful.

thanks

Re: Is it normal?

Hi Rhonda

I never saw any stitches at all, and I was even looking for them! At about five and a half weeks post-op, I felt a poking sensation inside. I thought that they were just starting to come out, so I was really surprised when my doctor said, "Oh, there's just one last stitch hanging on. Let me get it out for you." And she pulled it out.

Apparently, I'd been healing and didn't even know it

Re: Is it normal?

Thanks Chris, I hope that will be the case for me. I have a 6 week checkup in about 2 weeks. I have had no bleeding or even discharge after my first week post op. I guess I have just been very blessed to have such a smooth recovery. I still don't lift or sweep, mop etc. I do still get some pain if I over do it so I try to take it easy. All in all this has been a long road but not a bumpy as I expected.

Have a great day..
