2 weeks post hysterectomy - feel I could return to work next week?

Ok so today is 2 weeks since my surgery. I feel really good. I haven't had pain meds since about day 4 or 5.... I don't know why I have been so lucky. I drove for the first time today as my husband has to go out of town so now I'm by myself.
But I really feel ok... I feel like I could go back to work next week. Is that insane? I work where I do need to stand all day on concrete floors. My manager knows about this surgery and is willing to work with me so that I do not have to lift anything heavy. However I'm worried I will get stuck in a situation where it can't be avoided.
What are your alls thoughts on this? Thanks for your replies.

Re: 2 weeks post surgery

My personal opinion is that you should take what ever leave you scheduled for because we rarely get many breaks as women, and you are not healed internally even though you feel better. That said, if you are not on FLMA and/or you need the money, is it possible to go back half days for the first week to see how it goes? If you go back full time and you start to feel bad, can you take more time off? I guess it would depend on your employer. You really only get one chance to completely recover well. If you go back to work and say something happens, like a box starts to fall and you try to catch it and wind up twisting and pulling internal sutures, there is no do over and you risk adhesions forming. Which may ultimately affect your recovery. All hysterectomies, regardless of the type of surgery, are still considered major surgery, because there is a lot of internal pelvic trauma that takes time to heal. I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer, but we as women need to take care of ourselves and not feel guilted into doing too much too soon.
