Upcoming hysterectomy - sweatiness

I'm 43 and had a hysteroscopy with D & C in June. I go in for a TAH on 28th of this month due to a huge fibroid . Am keeping my ovaries as the doc says I'm way off menopause.

The one thing that is bothering me more than anything is the hot flushes which are ten time worse at night. My head feels constantly damp and sometimes it comes on so hard I can steam up my own glasses!! Seriously though...I also can't sleep. Reading this it does sound symptomatic of menopause.

Anybody else as sweaty and sleepless as me?

Yes, I've had awful night sweats for several years. But I just had my hyster this week and doc said I may or may not have been perimenopausal. We really don't know why I would get those horrible soaking night sweats. You're not alone!

Re: sweatiness

You might want to consider a low-dose SSRI to deal with the hot flashes and night sweats? SSRIs are usually used to treat depression, but they have a long history of off-label use in treating hot flashes and night sweats.

I had night sweats before my hyst. Not a ton but sometimes. Now I'm 2.5 weeks post op, with ovaries, and it's happened twice. I woke up soaked in a panic they I had a crazy fever, then I realized....Smh
So you aren't alone!!

Re: sweatiness

Well I woke up last night in a sweat so I am thinking the hyster didn't help or it's too early to tell. My guess is that with the ovaries in-tact I'll continue to have them. But, I can live with that if the other issues I've had are gone!

Have you had your thyroid checked?

Yes I've had everything checked and all fine. I don't know if it's going to carry on post op as I'm keeping my ovaries. As long as I only go through it once I won't mind!!
