With all the medical miracles out there......LOL!

you would think that gas pains & difficult bowel movements would be "a thing of the past". Two of the things on my "I dread this" list.

On that note, I sure wish they could give something that would gaurantee no coughing or sneezing for 6 weeks. It seems to me I have sneezed more in the past month than I have my whole life, getting a little paranoid!

Your name cracks me up.

That doesn't mean you're going to have it all put back if you're not happy with the results are you?

not a chance!

My name came about because of my complete lack of imagination the day I joined on here! It's now growing on me, too funny!

I didn't have bad gas or constipation at all! I definitely recommend a daily dose or two of stool softeners, keep a little Milk of Mag on had to top those off if needed, and a little Gas X just in case.

The first poo is the worst, but I did the stool softener plus Milk of Mag and just relaxed on the potty and let nature (and chemicals) do the work. It also helps to lean back against the toilet tank, relax, and go to your happy place!

my worst nightmare is taking one to many stool softners and not being able to run/walk/shuffle to the washroom fast enough!

YIKES!

gas pains

And I thought it was my imagination......I am so glad someone out there also has gas pains. Do yours feel like major menstrual cramps? Don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone in pain, but I was feeling like the lone ranger there for a while.

I see that your surgery is scheduled for the same day as mine. Are you starting to get just a tad nervous too? I thought I was mentally ready, but now its all I think about.

I was looking forward to celebrating my last period...but its finally decided that 21-25 days is too soon to show up. Duh, I've been thinking that for a year now...haha I guess I'll enjoy the wait just one more time.

I'm just over a week post-op and none of those things have been as bad as I imagined pre-op. Granted my hyst was done vaginally, but I had imagined torture every time I coughed, sneezed or had a BM.

I had my first BM on day 2 and with the help of stool softners it was a breeze! When I felt a sneeze coming on I made sure to protect my tummy and it wasn't too bad. The good news is I don't have stress incontenence any more! YAY!! No more peeing my pants when I sneeze!

I also consider myself very, very lucky. I haven't had any gas pains to speak of!

Best wishes to all LIW. The waiting is truly the worst part!!

Cool, no more stress incontinence? I had no idea this was going to go away. Is this typical? I'm tired of this nasty lil problem.

my stress incontinence has gone too! (though i'm going to try a bit of tap dancing tonight - so i'll let you know how it holds up through a triple time step! )

As for sneezing - sit down and draw your knees toward your chest - far less traumatic that way

Good luck with the surgeries to all!

I can relate to the gas pains. I suppose it isn't much consolation, but they really DO get better with time. In the meantime, the usual remedies (water, walking, etc.) usually do provide some relief.

And as for tap dancing at less than one month post-op, I am impressed that your doctor has approved an activity which I always assumed was pretty strenuous so early on. Considering how I felt just riding in the car, I can't imagine how my tummy would have felt if I was tapping, and I would think that your internal stitches wouldn't be healed enough for that. Please be careful!
