"New" symptoms / complications 6+ months post surgery

I'm at 6+ month post-op so this might not be related to my surgery but I've never had this kind of feeling before. Over the past two weeks or so I've had this heavy feeling in my bladder when I have to pee. Doesn't hurt to go like I'm use to feeling with a typical UTI, doesn't hurt at all. Just feels very heavy. And sometimes I feel like I have to push to fully empty my bladder. I was prepared for potential UTI problems immediately following surgery, especially because of the cath, but this seems to be too far gone. I'm doing the cranberry/water thing right now because I can't get in to see my doctor (Gyn or PCP) until mid-next week at the earliest but if this might be something more serious I'll push it and go to urgent care.

Hi Crystal,

There are a few possibilities. Since only your doctor can diagnose you I will just give you a couple possible answers.

1. Your vaginal tissues are possibly swollen. Some women take longer to heal and more activity can create some blood pooling in the tissues.

2. Your low on estrogen in the vaginal tissues so you are getting pain/pressure in the bladder from the lack of estrogen. This can happen even if you kept your ovaries.

3. You have a mild prolapse of the bladder causing this feeling of pressure.

Best advice is to get into see your gynecologist as soon as possible. In the interim you can call and ask for a prescription for vaginal estrogen cream to see if that helps. If you doctor won't call in a RX then try using an OTC non estrogen product like Replens. This may help ease your symptoms if the problem is dry tissue.

Let us know what your doctor says.
