I'm worse after D&C
My D&C in July did nothing at all in relieving my flooding. My doctor removed countless polyps and scraped the lining down as far as he could.
Unfortunately, I'm bleeding more; passing more clots more than ever when I get my period. And the pain...so exhausting and bothersome...cramps and flooding for a good 4-5 days; mid-month cramping and spotting...so tired of it all.
In recovery, doc told me he suspects adeno after the surgery which included a hysteroscopy; and he said hysterectomy is all that's about left at this point. He couldn't do the ablation because my uterus was way too large and irregularly shaped. I also have a golf-ball sized fibroid in the wall.
Have any of you had worse periods after D&C?
I see my doctor Friday and want to schedule the hysterectomy for the week after Christmas if possible. I just can't live like this anymore one week out of every month. Even though I just turned 50, he said my hormones are still very much in tune and no hint of menopause at all. I have no menopausal symptoms either so I assume I have at least another five years of this mess going on.
Any advice is appreciated!

I'm worse after D&C
I had very heavy periods prior to my D&C and they remained just as heavy after, no relief what so ever. I ended up having my hyster for andeo because the bleeding, pain, backaches, etc. were just to much to deal with daily. My dr told me the only cure for andeo is to have the uterus taken out.
I feel 100% better after my surgery, there still are some rough days, but I do have my life back.
Have you talked to your dr. about keeping your ovaries, if you keep those then you really don't have to worry about menopause. There is a chance after surgery your ovaries will go into shock sending you into a temporary mild menopause.
I hope you feel better soon!!!

I also had no relief from heavy, constant bleeding after my D&C. I actually think it was worse.

I'm worse after D&C
Thank you both for such prompt replies. I've done a lot of research on hysterectomy and haven't met anyone that hasn't had a positive outcome to their surgery. I don't remember periods like this when I was in my twenties. Now, the thought of getting a job is out of the question unless I can take off at least 2-3 days each month....like who would go for that?
I'll let you all know how my appointment goes on Friday and hope my doctor isn't going to be away on a cruise that week in December. If so, I'll just have to wait until July when hubby has another week off.
Thanks again!

I'm worse after D&C
I had exploratory laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and a D&C in June and since then I've had a total of 5 days when I didn't bleed at all, three trips to the ER for profuse bleeding and more pain/flooding than ever. My doctor, too, finally said that enough was enough after that last ER trip 2 weeks ago and scheduled my surgery for October 12. I had 2 blood free days this week and today it started again and I have the most awful back pain and cramps that I have ever had and nothing is touching it.
I couldn't even imagine feeling the way I do and waiting until December or July for my surgery. To me a month seems like forever. I just want this over with!
I'll say prayers for you!

Aw Schmoopy, I will say prayers for you too! You seem so much worse off than I am...but that's exactly what I'm afraid of happening to me down the road. That I will need to go to the ER for blood loss. This past month I actually felt almost that I was going to pass out from sheer exhaustion, anemia, whatever it was. Never felt that before either. The pain seems to always be hinting that it's there any time of month. In fact, it goes all the way up to my navel. It's not excrutiating by any means...but always there.
I even wonder if menopause would even bring relief. I could be one of those ones with post-menopausal bleeding and end up having the surgery anyway.
Crazy as it sounds, I even wonder if I'll take periods to my grave! Friends and acquaintenances of mine have already had the change at my age or KNOW they are going through it. Not me though!

I'm worse after D&C
Thanks Diane99! I've been going thru this for four years, but it took me 3 years to find a gyne who would actually believe it was real and not just stress, and not all in my head. I love my current gyne, he's a real gem! After almost a year of seeing him about twice a month, sometimes more, we're finally getting near what I hope will be a resolution to this problem. I'm so sick and tired and being sick and tired and bleeding all the time. We've tried everything we could think of and nothing has helped so it's surgery for me and I'm having it all out. I don't ever want to go through this again! I'm at the point where I am so run down that if I dare sit still for 5 minutes I'm sound asleep. I also don't leave my house alone anymore except to go to work because I never know when I'm going to have a bleeding accident and need help, it's happened so often. Last time I was in a restaurant having dinner with my boyfriend and all of a sudden I got this awful cramp and whomp...the dam let loose and there was an awful mess before I could even think to race to the restroom. I wouldn't have made it anyway, it happened so fast. My clothes were drenched, the chair was bloody, there was a puddle of blood on the floor. It was totally disgusting.
I just hope they can fix you up before you have to go through this. I wouldn't wish this on anyone!

I'm worse after D&C
OMG, you are having an awful time! How do you even make it through work? I so want to get at least a part-time job now that my youngest just started college but I know I'd be calling in sick for a couple days every month.
Best of luck to you on 10/12 and you are so brave to have held out this long!

I'm worse after D&C
Thankfully I have a very understanding female boss and a great group of co-workers. I work in a small office with 6 women and 7 men. Even the men have been very sympathetic. I take 3 changes of clothes to work every day and usually use them all, but no one ever acts like they even notice. They just call me the fashion queen. I have only ever called off sick twice due to this mess, and only missed 3 days after my surgery in June. I miss a lot of hours for doctor's appointments, though, so I feel like when I can be there I need to be there even if I'm not feeling my greatest but I'll always stay late to get my work done if I need to or go in early the next day. Now and then I'll leave early if it's really bad but not until I get all my work done unless I know I can do it the next day without it being a problem. Everyone has been very good about it all, really, and I'm so fortunate to have understanding people to work with. I know it wouldn't be this way if I worked for a larger company but thankfully I had time to prove myself before this got so bad so they've put up with me because they know that I'm conscientious and I'm there when I need to be no matter how bad I feel.
I hope that you can find someone as understanding to work for. I've had bosses who would not have been this kind!

I'm worse after D&C
Hi Diane and Schmoopy,
I understand so much what you ladies are going threw, I don't think I had one pair of pants or underwear that was not stained with blood. What did help me protect my clothes at the end was using new born diapers as pads, there not the most comfortable but I didn't bleed threw as easily. I have also heard some sisters have used Depends pads, there suppose to hold urine so it may absorb up alot blood then the maxi pads do.
I had to take my dd to gymboree and we do jumping and dancing in there, I could no way do that with any pad without leaking all over, but when I used the newborn diaper I was pretty safe.
Hugs to both of you!!!
