Surgery now changed to TAH from TLH ughhhhhh

Went to pre op this past Friday (5/10/12) and was advised that due to the tumor has grown so fast and big that they believe that its best to do a TAH vs TLH.....I'm freaking out, so scared!!!! Where is this cut at?? Anyone with advise please let me know. My surgery is in 2 days!!!!! May 15th

I had a tah due to scar tissue and them wanting to check everything. The did the bikini cut on Me which is right at your pubic line. It does take more healing but I personally favor the tah. Sometimes they have to do a vertical cut which I've had for a different surgery. Both incisions to me are about the same. Call your doctor and ask questions. I'm sure they have a nurse that will be able to talk you thru the process.

I ended up with TAH instead of davinci. They cut me down from belly button to above pubic bone. Not that big of a deal. I was scared but came through fine.

I was kind nervous about the whole thing with the TLH, now Im really freaked out and scared. Ugh I need a nap lol

Being freaked out and totally scared is normal...don't worry, it will be ok. Just think of it as the same surgery as the TLH but instead of a bunch of little incisions, it's just one. It's the same work on the inside, just a different way in! Plus, your dr. will really be able to get a look around, check the fluids, change the belts, check the spark plugs...
I may be simplifying it, but after four abdominal surgeries, I can tell you that if I got through it, so can you.
About the driving from your other thread...as with everything else, it depends on how you feel and your dr.'s instructions but I was cleared for driving at three weeks. I didn't feel comfortable with parkway driving and kept it to local driving until now (5 1/2 weeks).

I have a TAH on May 18th and have come to the conclusion that it has to get done because the alternative is painful periods, bloated belly and feeling blah. I have never been in surgery so the cut is new to me too. I know I will be a bit nervous but I have full trust in my dr that she will know what to do. She stated to me that she will determine whether vertical or horizontal cut once I am under the anesthesia and she can look at my belly and feel how best to cut. I told her to leave me as decent cut as possible and she promised to do so. I cannot wait to have the uterus removed with the fibroids. I am 38 yrs old and no children..this surgery is the best thing I can do for my health and life. Good luck to you and enjoy pre-op. I am going to a couple of social events this week and getting a massage two days before surgery !!!
