Help - going mad!!

Hi Ladies

My castle visit is just 12 days away and I'm going slowly mad! I can't stop thinking/worrying about it and am on constantly on the verge of tears. I've tried sleeping pills but they make me very groggy so I can hardly function when I wake up and have to go to work (I've tried taking just half but it has the same effect), I've tried reading but couldn't concentrate at all, tried my hypnosis tape which usually relaxes me completely, but found myself
fidgeting and twitching whilst listening to it. I just can't switch off and my head feels like its about to explode. On one hand I want the day to arrive and be done with and on the other I want to run away and hide so I miss it!!

Am I just going to have to put up with this until the day of my op or can any of you suggest some activity I can do to help take my mind off it (or just alcohol?!!!)

Thanks very much

Help - going mad!!

Hi Sugar Kane!

I have the same problem...my surgery is next week (March 11th). I just couldn't seem to get anything done for thinking about the surgery. I called my doctor and he gave me a prescription for some Xanax. I took my first one today and I'm actually getting a lot of my cleaning done I had plan to do before the big day. I had read on some of the posts that actually quite a few women have been prescribed this before surgery... so that made me feel better about taking it. I usually don't like to take meds.

Good luck and just try to keep busy!

Help - going mad!!

me too, I'm 3-19 and I just can't focus. I have so much to do and I am just going around in circles. I hope and pray that we all get done what we need to do and have a better quality of life when it is all over. Sure wish it would hurry up.'

Help - going mad!!

SugarKane,

What type of sleeping pills were you taking? See if your doc will prescribe Ambien. It works great for me, and I wake up feeling more refreshed - no groggy side effects for me.

It's worth a try.

I hope you feel more comfortable soon,
Lori

Help - going mad!!

Sugar Kane,
I can completely understand how you're feeling. I was scheduled for surgery 7 weeks ago. Focusing on anything was difficult. My solution was information. The more I learned, the more comfortable I was. I asked the clinical supervisor at my Dr's office MANY questions. I spent a great deal of time reading information here on the hyster site and other medical sites.

My biggest saving grace was finding someone that is scheduled for surgery on the same say that I am. She is going through all of the same feelings, and we've been able to share information and support.

Good luck to you, Sugar Kane. All of my best wishes.
