Staples out! Hardly hurt...

...Only a few minor ouches - like an injection sting, not as bad as a nurse or tech poking a vein for a blood draw or IV. I, as usual, wimped out and didn't look. Took an ibuprofen an hour before, just in case.

The OB/Gyn doctor said "you'll feel some pulls" and chatted w/me as he sterilized the area and manually took them out. Very compassionate and skilled. Then he put on Steri-strips, which he said would last about a week before falling off.

Re: Staples out! Hardly hurt...

Yes, I got mine out last week....

I was so happy to be rid of them. I didn't get steri-strips but all is well..

I agree,,just some pinching. I didn't care for having them in me at all!!

I know right! I was so worried they would hurt so bad to come out and to my relief it wasn't anything like I imagined yay! It hurt worse when her finger slipped off steri strip and pushed down on my incision

Glad it was uneventful for you! I couldn't watch when they removed mine either. Be glad they put steristrips on as my incision started to open up.

Question though, did you really have your staples in for 3 weeks (since April 11th)??? My doctor said those have to come out on day 6-7 or I would end up looking like railroad tracks.

Re: Staples out! Hardly hurt...

Yes, I think my doctor wanted to err on the side of caution - he looked at them 10days post-op and said he wanted to wait another week because of my obesity. Didn't argue; after all, they weren't really bothering or irritating me, and I would rather live with the "Frankenstein" look than chance the incision gaping open...
