Incision infected

I NEEED HELP
I had my laparoscopy two weeks ago, got infected. Today I went to the dr he remove the stitches and he said yes look infected did a culture and put me on antibiotic. He was in a rush, I was there for 2 min, didn't le me or didn't have time to explain all the symptoms I'm feeling. The left side of my incision hurts so bad, sting, burn, it's red and really swelling. When I told him that incisin worries me he said it was normal cs he did most of the work thru that incision, but wasn't like that four days ago. I got home and I don't feel good at all, been running a fever, but the pain it's so bad. Started my girt pill of antibiotic already. I don't know if I should go the ER or just wait on yah antibiotics to work. I have such bad headache. And I really don't feel good. Can't call back cus my dr going out of town till jan 9. I been so many times to the ER that I feel embarrassed to go again. I don't know what to do.

Re: Incision infected

Give the antibiotics about 24 hours to work, and REALLY push fluids (water and clear juice). If you don't feel better by then, go to the ER. Even if you have been there a dozen times already. I also found that triple antibiotic ointment and loose gauze (the non-stick kind is the best) helped until it wasn't red, then just gauze until it was totally healed. I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Incision infected

(((((Hugs)))))) Unfortunately antibiotics are not something that works immediately. I would wait 24 to 48 hours and if you don't have some improvement would go to ER for further evaluation!! I hope they start to work quickly and you feel better!!!

Re: Incision infected

I had a minor infection in my incision. Within 36 to 48 hours, the pain was gone once I was on antibiotics. I hope this will be the case with you too. If you are still in pain after that time, be sure to get back to the doctor or go to the ER. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: Incision infected

Hi Nelly,
Did I read correct, it says you had your hyster in July? Is it still infected now?? If it is I would as the other hystere suggested, make sure you take your AB's as directed, don't miss any doses and lots of fluid and rest!! A cold pack may help for the heat, swelling and pain @ incision site!!! If I did read correctly and you had your hyster in July it seems like an awfully long time to have an infection of the incision, I would be worried about that!!! Best of luck
