5 weeks post hysterectomy: pelvic pain and pressure; bleeding, discharge and bad odor

I thought after seeing my doctor on the 21st of January 2014, that everything was good..she reassured me if she not do normal bleeding and said I had an infection put me on antibiotics. Well four days later I had scary bleeding again, so they did a ct scan with contrast and said everything looked good just had small amount of pelvic fluid which was normal. I finished my antibiotics up.. but something still didn't feel right I am almost five weeks out. I have a lot of pelvic pain and pressure, it feels kinda itchy down there and kinda hurts to pee, I am still bleeding, I had some usual bleeding yesterday, but I noticed a discharge and I have a really bad odor. I am so frustrated..when am I suppose to stop bleeding..is it normal to feel like that down there..what should I do..wishing I never had the stupid surgery..I should of just bleed to death from my period..so angry

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I wish I had answers for you, definitely call your doctor back and let them know you now have a foul odor.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. xo

Any foul odor could be a sign of infection. I urge you to call your surgeon and insist on an appt today

Absolutely call your doc, but FWIW my doctor said patients with a vaginal cuff (did you have your cervix removed?) inevitably call her around 5 weeks with bleeding and discharge. She said that's when a lot of those internal cuff stitches work their way out, causing bleeding and irritation. So, hopefully it is just that! Normal healing! But yes - when in doubt call. Our bodies have been thru so much!

My hospital discharge instructions included foul smelling discharge should be reported to my doctor. Please give your doctor a call. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs
