Post Op Physical Examination

At what point does the doc do an internal exam after surgery? Is this how it is determined whether one can resume intercourse?

Curious....

Hi Littlebear,

Most ladies will have a post-op internal exam at either four or six weeks. (Though it does vary, and may be at two weeks or eight weeks, depending on the doctor. But it's very rare to be released for sexual intercourse at two weeks.)

Usually, at this point, the doctor will release you, if you are sufficiently healed.

Post Op Physical Examination

Hi Littlebear, I had a tah/bso and at 3 weeks post op my dr did an internal exam. However he did not release me for resuming normal activities (including sex) until I was 6 weeks post op. Even then I had to go slowly and I wasn't ready for sex for a couple of more weeks. Each person and dr are different so I would follow your dr's orders as he/she will know your condition best.
Best wishes S

post of exam

I had my first follow up at 2 weeks, and then, due to an infection in my belly button saw the Dr at 4 weeks.

My next one is at 6 weeks where she said she will do an internal exam to make sure I am completely healed so I can resume other activities like sex, vacuuming (wish I didn't have to do that again!) and exercise, etc.

I have heard of other internal exams if there are problems, but in my case I will get mine at 6 weeks.

Hope this helps!

Post Op Physical Examination

I had a 2 wk post-op to talk and will have an exam at 8 wk. However I was told I could resume sex at 3 wks. and start getting back to a "normal" routine but to be very careful about it. I had an LSH so I'm not sure if it would be the same as some other types of hysts.
