Sleep? Messed up!

My sleep patterns are a mess. Today I woke up at 2 AM and now it is 5 and I am wide awake. Then, I will go back to sleep around 7 and wake up at 10. Should I be worried about this? I am just at the beginning of my recovery. How much of this is due to pain meds? I am trying not to take them during the day, but then I do at night.

How long until I get back into a routine with sleep?

Sleep? Messed up!

Hi there Julia

I had some sleep problems even when in the hospital. I am almost 2 weeks post op (TAH) and just the past few days I have been getting a much better sleep.

I was given Tylenol 3 (with codeine) for pain when I was released and figured out that this was the reason for my terrible sleep. It was actually making me hyper. I switched to Tylenol (extra strength) and this has made all the difference with me. I take them about an hour before bed and it has helped a lot. Talk to your doctor about your meds you are on.....proper sleep is just as important to your recovery.

Best wishes to you.

Hugs
Heather
