Luckily, I came across HysterSisters three weeks before my surgery. I read and researched every forum that I could until my “date” was called. 5 hours post op... no pain at all,

Hoping to offer some positivity to those about to have surgery (as I feel people tend to report more when stuff goes awry)... but I'm laying here in my hospital room 5 hours post op and I feel fine. No pain at all and haven't been given any meds. No belly bloat. Not even tender to the touch. Had a LAVH. Kept ovaries.

Woke up groggy and a wee bit nauseous but got phenergan for it and all is well. Tomorrow I get walking...I can feel some gas percolating. Would like catheter out too lol.

I almost feel bad about not needing meds as I opted in to a clinical trial for a new post op pain opioid. Nurse laughed when I apologized for ruining their study lol!

Day Two

Hello! I had my LAVH yesterday and came home afterward. They removed my uterus, cervix, Fallopian tubes but left my ovaries. They found a few endo lesions but the real problem was a diagnosis of post-tubal/ablation syndrome which caused the severe pain as the menstural flow was backing up into my tubes. Little loopy and some pain in the beginning. After I slept for about 4 hours, took it easy and hubby fed me my required medications. Because of him, I haven't noticed too much pain. I've been using the hints given on this site and it has made a difference. Today, feeling even better and trying to walk a bit more around the house. The only real pain I've had were headaches last night. Hubby said it was probably coming off some of the anesthesia medicines. I am hopeful my progress continues smoothly. Best wishes to all my hystersisters ;-)

Day 2 here...DaVinci hysterectomy that took everything out. Doc reported that I had a larger than normal uterus that was also irregular shaped which made it a little difficult to remove but everything else went smoothly. I believe the catheter was the worst part of the whole experience. Got to come home today and feel pretty good which surprises me. Gonna take the advice and get a lot of rest and not think I'm Superwoman still.

I was wrong. Post op pain is minimal but my God the GAS pain! Under my ribs and into my shoulders. Hurt to breathe. I've walked a bunch and it's settled for now but holy moly.

I had a da Vinci TLVH on 3/20. Came home yesterday afternoon. Feeling pretty good, except for the shoulder pain due to the CO2. I'm walking around, and put a heating pad on my shoulder. It seemed to help. Drinking water, staying away from carbonated drinks -- I don't need any more bubbles in my tummy! So glad for the Hystersisters and their support!!

First of all, Quill57.. It is nice to see you on the Other Side. You have some wonderful sisters to heal and recover with!

Mimi76 and Quill…

Gas pains are definitely going to be bothersome during the first days post surgery. The article CO2 Gas Relief is a great read with a bit more insight. Another wonderful read is 15 Hot Topics for Hysterectomy Recovery .

You are going to get there sweeties. Day by day then week by week.

Officially on the dark side 🙋

Hello ladies, just wanted to say surgery went well and I'm home resting. Ended up taking right ovary as well due to large cyst and leaving left one in place since it looked good. Very sore and walking is a challenge but for 5hrs out of surgery not too bad thanks to the lovely lala drugs I'm on.
