Hi At my 2 week post op I told my surgeon about the pain I was having He told me it was a hematoma but now today almost 4 weeks pain is increasing so tomorrow I will have to go have a CT done and find the size of this thing and get something for pain and just when I had a solid week of nothing but Aleve once in a while. Re: UPDATE: HEMATOMA IS NOT causing the pain per the dr.

They bascially wanted me to cancel my appointment tomorrow because "what they are telling me on the phone is basically what they would be telling me in person and since I live an hour away, there is no need to travel". I REFUSED. I want to show the doctor where I'm having this nerve pain and I want to know if I should see a pain specialist. I refuse to sit here 3 more weeks before my 4week post-op appt and be in pain.

All they said was to take the pain meds; I explanined they are NOT working. I will only take Motrin.

Now, I'm just mad!!! I'm going to that appt tomorrow and force her to see what the hell is going on with me. It's too bad my regular doc is out and won't be back until September!!
I am sorry if I'm repeating myself here, because I know I posted this on another thread of yours....

But at this stage post-op (2 weeks) it is not unusual to still have post-op pain. I mean real good old-fashioned pain. Not a twinge... but pain. At two weeks after my surgery, I was still taking my vicodin 'round the clock! Some just have more discomfort than others.

It could be that because you had the less-invasive form of surgery, you are expecting to be further along in your healing than you are. I can understand that, but the reality is still that you had major surgery and things aren't going to be all healed at only two weeks post-surgery.

If what you're feeling is new pain or if it is "worse" than it was before, then you need to be seen by the doctor. But you might also need to be a little more patient and give yourself a chance to heal.

I know that's hard... and it's no fun to be in pain. I've been there. I felt like I'd never get better.

You mention seeing a pain specialist and speak of nerve pain. At this point, the "nerve pain" you may be feeling is the normal healing pains felt as the nerves repair themselves. As for nerve damage from the surgery... it's more likely that you'd feel numbness rather than pain at this point. But if there really is nerve pain going on, it will likely be months before it can be diagnosed, since first your body will need to heal from the trauma of surgery.

It's hard to wait. And it's no fun. I hope your can give you some answers. In the meantime, try to take it easy, and get plenty of if you can.
