Afraid of sexual differences

I am new here, so I hope I am not just rehashing old topics, but I am so afraid that I will lose sexual functioning afterward. I have been in a dysfunctional marriage for 16 years, and now that I'm divorcing and finally have a chance at some real love, I have to have this surgery because of severe anemia. Any words of wisdom?

Hi Tracy-
It takes alot of strength to get out of a bad marriage- Good for you! I am a little over 8 weeks post op and can tell you that you have alot to look forward to. While you will feel a bit vulnerable for awhile, and protective of your body, sex can be wonderful! I was afraid I'd lose the big "O"- but it's better than ever. Make sure you communicate with your partner and they are sensitive to your fears. Don't let anyone tell you that it lessens you in any way sexually. When I threw out my diaphram I felt like having a party-
You go girl! Just make sure...if it hurts don't do it until your ready. Have fun and good luck!

If anything, your sex life should improve. Most of us feel so much better and relaxed not having to worry about pain and bleeding, and the physical part should still be good. You will be able to enjoy sex . . . ahem. . . to the FULLEST without a problem.
