Pain management
What type of pain meds did your dr prescribe and what was the quantity? I'm 2 weeks post op and out of meds and I have been sparing with them. Are you still needing meds after the da Vinci?

Re: Pain management
I am alitte over 2 weeks and I still need mine every once in awhile. If your still in pain I would give your doc a call and have him call something in for you. I had the Da Vinci also.and was given 40 percocet.

Re: Pain management
I was prescribed 20 percocet. I called and he called in 20 hydrocodone to use only at bedtime. He's acting like this should be a walk in the park and I'm a pill head for having to ask for meds. I'm just still having vaginal pain. I'm taking Ibprofen and Tylenol during the day.

Re: Pain management
I could be wrong but if they make you completely pain free you may do too much and harm yourself. That is what is getting me thru.....

Re: Pain management
I had 30 Percocets and at post op asked for refill (1 week out) and was asked why...told him I can't sleep and have back pain. Gave me ambian instead. I was so befuddled I didn't pursue (nurse had told me I was getting an internal so all my questions went out window- 1 week out). Made me feel like I was a drug addict. Makes me worry that he will tell my employer I can go to work tomorrow and my 3 weeks will be cut short

Re: Pain management
I was doing hydrocodone the first week, and then my doc reacted to me "possibly getting addicted". I freaked and shifted to ibuprofen 600mg. In retrospect, I should have weaned myself off of the hydrocodone and not gone cold turkey.
Now, at 2 weeks and 5 days, I'm doing fine with the ibuprofen. The hydrocodone was really messing with my bowel movements, so I am seriously glad I didn't stay on them too long. Still need the ibuprofen, but wondering if I shouldn't start to wean myself off. I'd appreciate anybody that can give me their perspective on this.

Re: Pain management
Late in week 3 I started taking less percocet and more motrin. I also got treated like a drug addict by my doctor.

Re: Pain management
sismarie -
Every doctor is different, eh? I think some react that way because they've had patients that have gotten addicted in the past, and they get a little hyper-sensitive after that.
Regarding your sleep problems - I was doing really well with the sleep until two nights ago. I'm thinking about going back to taking Alteril, which is a natural sleep aid I was taking prior to surgery. It really seemed to help me before. It's got tryptophan in it - think Thanksgiving turkey!
