Surgery date-Feb 16th full hysterectomy

Well I went to see the head of the GYN/ONC dept at Univ of PA and was pleased with his expertise. So, Feb 16th I'm having it all out. I'm scared because I hate this surgery crap--but will be glad to have the relief of all of it coming out. He states my cancer chances are between 5 and 10% so I feel comfortable with that. My uterus is the size of a 4 mo' pregnancy and have the cyst on my left ovary...

So it will be over soon. Was wondering what you all wore home from the hosp. I hate to spend money on baggy clothes that I wont wear about the six weeks are up....but may not have a choice.

Hi. Someone gave me a loungewear pair of pants (drawstring waistline) and top--what you would wear in the house. I also bought 2 pairs of nice sweatpants from a catalog and lived in those once I got home. I ordered my regular size, but they were very generous and had an elastic waistband. I imagine I'll continue to wear them. I used to live in jeans, but some days the jeans are too confining and bother my stomach. I suggest pants that have elastic waist or drawstring and not confining around your ab area.

I wore a pair of jammie pants home. I bought them at Old Navy for under $10 and they were very confortable with the swelly belly. Nobody will look at you strange if you come out of the hospital in your jammies. When all my jammie pants got old, I wore dh's sweat pants.

Swelly belly?

Does the swelly belly help you as far as your muscles healing back to "almost" normal....I'm not vain by any means--but, since my uterus makes me look 4 mo's pregnant --if I can help my body "LOOK" like I'm "NOT" pregnant by wearing a swelly belly--I'm all for it!
