Pain relief and trying to work!!

I just got back from the cafeteria heating up my rice sock. This fibroid is causing a lot pf I am having to bring it to work everyday along with attachable heating pads. I am spending a lot of money on these pads. I can't seem to get any pain relief from Motrin, Aleve or just plain tylenol. It may work for a little while and then it wears off. My doctor gave me some pain medicine(Lortab), but I have been holding on to them and using sparingly, because I don't want to run out. I hate having to call and ask for more. This is getting to be so hard feeling like this all the time. They told me at the doctor's office when I called that it will only get worse. They were right, I don't think I have a day that before the end of the day, I am hurting so bad. I look forward everyday to getting home and laying on my heating pad with a rice sock. I keep telling myself that if I use this medicine and need more, then I will just call. It says every 4 to 6 hours on the bottle. I never even take that much in one day. Sometimes 1 during the day and then another one in the evening, sometimes 1 and half at night. That is only 2 1/2 for a whole day. Sometimes the heat is the best thing I can use. I am allergic to Bextra and just found out that Celebrex has the same thing in it as in Bextra and that I would be allergic to it also. I am trying to wait until I get home to take any medicine today. I usually have so much running around to do after school that I am also extremely tired. I want to keep working as long as I can but it is getting harder because of how I feel. Any suggestions for controlling the pain any better?

Pain relief and trying to work!!

((( Cheryl ))) , oh sweetie, don't be afraid to use the pain meds that your dr gave you. I think that you should be able to use them the way they were prescribed. I tried not using my pain meds once like you and when my dr found out - he lectured me! He said that medicine left in the bottle can't help us a bit! I'm sure that your dr would want to to use yours when you need it. If you're concerned about over using it and running out - call and talk to your dr about it. Hopefully he/she will have some suggestions that can help with controlling that pain. I find that I don't function well at all if I'm in terrible pain

I do find that heating pads and nice long warm baths help me.

Best wishes.

Pain relief and trying to work!!

I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. I was like you when it came to taking pain meds. I quickly got over it though. The one thing you need to remember is if you let the pain go to long were it becomes unbearable, the pain meds will not work as effectively. That's why it's important to take them before you become so overridden with pain. Your Dr would not have prescribed them if he didn't feel you would benefit from them. Please don't hesitate to talk to your Dr about your fears. Hang in there and remember pain meds are your friends!
