Viewing Ovaries

My doctor told me that she can see my ovaries during a TVH without the use of laproscopic instrument.. that can actually see them with her eyes.... and determine if they look good......

How does she do that? just curious.....
How would she be able to see them in such a tight working space?

Viewing Ovaries

Hi ((kpolcyn)),
I have heard that the Ovaries are visable when a Hyst is performed via TVH...I am assuming because of their position in relation to the organs being removed < uterus & cervix >
I did find a link from our Resources where this is stated also:

Determining the Route and Method of Hysterectomy:
  Quote:
In another study of 966 women undergoing
hysterectomy, the ovaries were removed
vaginally without laparoscopic assistance
in more than 80% of the patients
undergoing oophorectomy.23 These
authors state that most ovaries are visible
and accessible for transvaginal removal if
they show some descent into the vagina
when the infundibulopelvic ligament is
stretched.

Entire article can be accessed here:

There is some other links with info here:
https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/lin...=browse&cid=20

The first one also has some excellent info regarding the various reasoning & determination methods of why certain routes are performed.
I hope this can help Good Luck..please keep us posted on how things are going for you...(((hugs)))
