Low grade fever and feel flu- like 13 days post hysterectomy

I had a DaVinci robotic surgery and a cystoscopy 13 days ago. I have been feeling okay, all things considered, until the past few days. I feel like my whole body is on fire, temp is running around 100 but that's with pain meds so i suspect it's actually higher. I still have enough pain that I require prescription pain meds, which causes constipation. Ugh. I feel like I have the flu but with a really sore tummy. Anyone else experience any of these problems??

Re: Low grade fever and feel flu- like 13 days post op

You might want to check with your surgeon. There is always the possibility of post infection or abscess. Your continued fever is concerning, and feeling ill is another red flag. If fever spikes overnight go to the ER, otherwise call surgeon in am and let them know. It may not even require a visit if he's willing to call in antibiotic to your pharmacy. Don't wait, better to treat it early.

My two week checkup is on Wednesday morning so unless my fever gets worse, I'm going to try to wait it out. I am hoping there is no infection but I agree that it's better to take care of it asap. The feeling awful is what concerns me. Thanks for your reply. I'll update as soon as I know something.

I would still call surgeon tomorrow and let them know what's going on. They might move up your appointment. Hey....that's why they get paid the big bucks, don't ever feel like you are bothering them.

That's a good idea. Actually, my doc will call me back within a few minutes if I leave a message with the after hour answering service. I may just call this evening. Thanks.

Sorry you're feeling crappy. You should call you Dr. Flu like symptoms after this soon after a surgery are signs of infection.

I had really similar symptoms and it ended up being a kidney infection. Call.
