nervous and confused

I am scheduled for my TAH on April 21. Dr. says he's not sure about removal of ovaries and he'll see when he gets in there. I am swaying with just asking him to take everything. I have had cysts in the past but they haven't acted up in a while. I'm not sure if that is because my fibroid (Vlad) is so painful and problematic that I just don't recognize the cysts anymore.
Does anyone have any advice about keeping the egg baskets or letting them go?
Thanks!

Re: nervous and confused

My opinion is to keep healthy ovaries when possible. Even after menopause, ovaries produce and help us. I realize that it's a personal decision though and can vary from person to person. I think that you should read, research and discuss it with your dr. Together you should be able to decide what is best for you

Re: nervous and confused

I agree with Jean that if possible leave the ovaries. They serve a function. While this is only advice the decision is personally yours.

I'm not a candidate for HRT so I wanted to keep my if possible. My doc like yours said he had to see them before he decided. I got to keep one. I've had some good hot flashes and occasional headaches, but other than that I'm good.

Good luck to you in your decision!

Re: nervous and confused

My doc said the same thing. I will take a look and if they are healthy she would leave them. She asked if I had pain on any particular side. I Had pain during ovulation and that time of the month. Ironically she kept my right ovary and took my left.

I would have been okay either way but I am glad I was able to keep one!

Good luck on your journey!
