Cervical mucus - Any help from sisters who have also had their cervix removed

Thank goodness forums are somewhat anonymous as this is a really embarrassing question to ask...

I had a TLH 5 weeks ago, the bleeding has stopped but it seems like my cervical mucus is back even though I don't have my cervix anymore. It's not alot and there is no infection so is this just the normal process of the vaginal cuff healing or can you still get cm without a cervix? Where are the glands that produce the mucus located? I had relished the thought of no more panty liners and hope this isn't actually going to be a part of my life still.

Any help from sisters who have also had their cervix removed and their experience with cm post op would be great.

Re: Cervical mucus - Any help from sisters who have also had their cervix removed

Morning Petit Femme,

I also had my cervix removed but during a TAH. I didn't have much discharge until this week (week 4). I am now having a ton of white/yellow watery discharge. No itch/no smell. I talked with my nurse yesterday and she was going to get with my doctor. She said it could be normal or the start of a vaginal infection (although I am not on any antibiotics which could cause that.)

So I can't really answer your question, but will let you know how my experience goes with this.

Take care!

Hee hee I was going to ask this. I had a LAVH with cervix removed. Yesterday I was so moody and saw stretchy mucous and I thought "oh cervical mucous I must be ovulating, but hey I don't have a cervix!"

Re: Cervical mucus - Any help from sisters who have also had their cervix removed

I had tht too for about a week or so. It started during week three or four? I can't remember now? However by the end of week five it began to disappear and now I'm at at week six and it's completely gone.

Some on here have had an infection tht needed meds, but not the case wi me.

If I were you, I'd give it a few more days. I was worried too tht I would forevevr be messed up wi a stinky smell. Now I'm bk to myself or at least my new self. It does go away!!

I hope mine goes away! I asked my surgeon pre-op if it would go away and he said "all you will have is your natural vejayjay secretions" which is FINE if I could remember what that was like considering I've been bleeding for so long.

PamMaw - you have given me hope!

Re: Cervical mucus - Any help from sisters who have also had their cervix removed

I've always had a lot of discharge from my lady bits. the vagina itself makes moisture to keep everything clean in there, and to lube up when you're aroused. I'm just the same as before I was hysterectomized. I don't bother wearing pads or anything because I"m just so used to it. I notice it on my panties every day, some days more than others depending on whether I had exciting thoughts or anything, and I notice it when I wipe. I bet you're just having normal vaginal discharge from your inside being cleansing and normal. If it really worries you, though, you can get a quick smear at the gyn to make sure it isn't bacterial or fungal.

My Doctor just called and said what I am describing sounds normal unless it has a funny consistency or smell. So we are going to wait and see. :-)

I am in my fourth week and have noticed an increase of mucous also. Quite annoying, but I attribute to the internal stitches dissolving even more and the healing process.
