Abdominal Bulges and Relation to Englarged Uterus?

Hi, I have a 9 cm Transmural Fibroid (inside and outside of my uterus) and my uterus is the size of a 14 week pregnancy. Now granted, I am overweight to begin with, but I am noticing some very real physical changes in my entire abdominal area!

It's not confined to below or around the belly button (which is where I grew more in my early pregnancy 12 years ago when I had my son), but it seems like I am bloated/enlarged from my lower abdomen all the way up to just below my bra strap (and it seems very "hardened" the higher up the bloating goes. No pain, just bloated. My clothes are fitting differently from the elastic on my underwear to t-shirts. Does this seem normal?

I don't have a medical opinion on this, but I am assuming that because the Fibroid is in an odd location, it's growing oddly in my uterus and shifting all of my parts around a bit, causing all of this bloating.

What has everyone else experienced?

Re: Abdominal Bulges and Relation to Englarged Uterus?

I definitely had some bloating before my hysterectomy. I found that the positioning of the bloating changed over time. At one point, my stomach would be bloated and hard after eating. It's quite possible your fibroid/enlarged uterus is pushing other organs out of their normal place.

I'm slim and I could actually feel one of my fibroids -- gross!

Thanks for taking the time to reply TheLotus...all of the sudden I don't feel so psychosomatic.

You could feel it? Gross is right. Sorry for that!

I saw a video of one being removed, and that was enough for me.

Squeemish....

Re: Abdominal Bulges and Relation to Englarged Uterus?

I used to have "tall thin" days, and "short fat" days, which gradually changed to looking bloated and fat.

I also had the days when sometimes my tummy was hard other times it was soft.

I didn't realise this was all related to fibroids till after the hyst, when I got my path report!
