Incision Care?

I have an "apron" so my scar is kind of covered by a flap of skin. I had my TAH on feb 28, and my staples out on mar 3. Now I have steri-strips.

I'm feeling it getting itchy down there but I'm not supposed to use water. Any advice? Corn starch? Telfa pads? I'm worried about infection.

Thanks,

Re: Incision Care?

hello there! I had a TAH on 2/26/13 and my staples removed on march 4. My incision is from belly button and it ends three fingers into my pubic area. I also have a fold of skin and also I have strips to cover incision. My doctors orders were to use a hydrogen peroxide and a gauze to clean all the incision area make sure its dry and to keep it dry he said to use another gauze in between skin fold and top of the vulva that way you keep away humidity therefore less chance of infection.
in regard water my doctor said it was ok for me to take showers no bath tub for now. Call your doctors nurse for instructions you don't want to end up with an infected incision. Good luck and God bless you
