1 week post hysterectomy: Feelings

Today I feel very angry & easily irritated. I haven't been sleeping well despite resting as much as I can. I have always been a terrible napper. My 60lb dog jumped up on the bed and my stomach this morning so that wasn't a great start. I'm ok but it scared me. I'm restless and sick of being limited in my activities thanks to soreness & fatigue. I am finally off the painkillers so I'm dealing with low grade cramp-type feelings with Advil or Tylenol. It's hard to not be able to do things. I'm alone today for the first time in a week and I'm actually looking forward to it. Everyone seems to want me to be better & I know they mean well but it feels like pressure. My husband can't cook so thankfully friends have dropped off meals. He is a worrier but not a natural nurturer. I hope I feel better this week. I was supposed to go back to the office but have postponed it until next Monday. Thanks for listening.

Re: 1 week post hysterectomy: Feelings

You have to cut yourself some slack! You are very early in the healing process and your hormones are out of whack. Emotions are definitely up and down during this process. I still had pain and needed pain pills for weeks. Friends and family mean well but I don't think hey really get what you are going through on the inside. I hope you can get more help from hubby. Mine was way out of his comfort zone but he figured it out. Please try to find ways to relax and give your body time to heal!
