scared, rectal rash

So thankful for this site. Too embarassed to ask anyone I know. I have terrible rectal itching. When I looked with a mirror I can see like white pustules under the skin all around the opening. Any ideas what this could be?? Ive tried some anti yeast cream as well as some cortisone which seemed to help some.

I would see my DR if it were me. Maybe someone can shed some bbetter light and have this in common...but it jsut doesnt sound like something to leave alone. Even jsut calling the nurse. I wish you well and I am sorry you are experiencing this....I can tell it is NOT fun.

there are other things that can cause rectal rash besides yeast infections .........definately call your Dr. and tell him/her about what `s going on and make an appointment to be seen..........they can look and possibly culture the area to be sure what to treat you with............ `s I hope you feel better soon!!!!!

Same problem

Yes I had that problem the first 2 weeks after my surgery. I called my dr and he made light of it. Said it wasn't due to the surgery. (Yeah, right) He thought it might be hemmorroids which I had never had and he told me to get Preparation H. I did and that did nothing because that was not the problem. He also said I could use hydrocortisone cream. That helped a little. I think it finally just went away on it's own. It was terribly annoying while it was happening. Looking back, I wonder if the antibiotics I took in the hospital just got the natural balance of bacteria, yeasts, etc. out of whack and instead of a vaginal infection I got an anal infection. I'm not a medical person, so I'm just guessing. Definitely go see your doctor if anti-itch creams don't give you relief. It will drive you crazy.

Pus sounds like a bacterial infection to me. Call your doctor or nurse. I think you need antibiotics.
