Can Adenomyosis cause knife-like abdominal pain during bowel movements with period?

I had my one week post op dr visit yesterday (partial laparoscopic hysterectomy) and found out I had Adenomyosis which caused the heavy bleeding and clotting. (Also Pelvic Congestion Syndrome) What has been a mystery to me for six years is the pattern of severe, knife-like, near fainting pain spells during bowel movements when I had my period. Could Adenomyosis have been the culprit? I didn't think to ask my doctor yesterday. Wondering if anyone out there knows of a link between the two....Adenomyosis & painful spells during BMs while on period.

I had similar stabbing pains that you are describing. My doctor thinks it was from the endometriosis. She suspects that I had adenomyosis too, but I just had my hyster and she sent my uterus to pathology. I'll know soon. I'm only 6 days post op, but I'm hoping those BM pains never return.

Thanks for the reply. I was convinced my episodes were from undiagnosed endometriosis but when I had my surgery the doctor said there was surprisingly no endometriosis found. That's why I now wonder if it was the Adenomyosis causing those episodes. I hope I never experience those pains again either...off the charts pain. Ugh.

Hi. I'm two weeks post op and had a TAH because of Adenomyosis. I used to get horrendous pain when on my period and having BMs. I've had 3 children and it was on par with labour. I used to have to pant through the pain. I too was told I might have endometriosis, however, after the op the surgeon said there was no endo. :-)
