night shirt or PJs?

I have bought new xxl PJs, but have just read that a catheter may remain in for a day or two. Would I therefore be better taking in a night shirt? I'm having TAH.

Re: night shirt or PJs?

I had a dVH/RALH and I used a night shirt. I ended up in the ICU for 2 1/2 days due to a breathing tube issue so I had a catheter for the time I was in the ICU and I was completely comfortable with the night shirt.

Re: night shirt or PJs?

I wore night shirts or XXL t-shirts. It was easier for me not to bend too much pulling up pants/shorts when using the restroom.

Re: night shirt or PJs?

I was told NOT to bring anything to the hospital, I would be in a hospital gown during my stay, which I later found out was just in case there was an emergency, and a procedure or emergency surgery needed to be done, the gown was already on. THis is what I was told.

Re: night shirt or PJs?

I was only in overnight and used the hospital gowns so didn't have to interfere with the IV. Otherwise at home --- nightshirts and t-shirts.

Re: night shirt or PJs?

While in the hospital, I wore the hospital gown. No big deal. I was only there overnight. This was easy....no need to disturb the IV and quite frankly, it was easy. Let the hospital gown get dirty, if needed. Save the fun PJs for home.

I have had two surgeries in my life. Never had a cath left in post-op. Whew!
