I went to the store...

I went to Wal-Mart and I was going to buy some underwear for my surgery and I froze. I couldn't do it. I keep thinking, what if I buy it and something goes wrong and I can't get the surgery? ugh I did buy a few boxes of Gas-X though.

Re: I went to the store...

BUY the underware. i didn't want to either, but so glad i did. granny panties aren't very attractive but very comfortable. make sure you have plenty of loose yoga or sweat pants too. you'll be much more comfortable.

good luck!

Re: I went to the store...

I don't think I can bring myself to buy grannie panties...this is depressing enough...i'll just borrow my husbands boxer briefs...that should bring a laugh or too... and if he is too mortified with that he can go out and buy the grannie panties!!

Re: I went to the store...

I couldnt bring myself to buy them either, I would pick them up and put them back, gross. I am big enough on my own without buying something like that in a bigger size. Now I read something that gave me hope. I read that if you get the lap surgery done that boy shorts would work. They are and i am so happy with that. I did buy myself some looser yoga pants.

Re: I went to the store...

Having worn Hubby's boxer briefs after surgery, I can honestly say that on non-swelly days they're great, but on swelly days, I like my granny panties. I have the kind that are the non-ride up, they're roomier.

Re: I went to the store...

I have to go out and buy different underwear too. And pads. I haven't used pads since my son was born in 2003!
I don't think I've worn regular brief underwear since I was maybe 12.

Re: I went to the store...

I'm glad I saw this information now about buying a bigger size panties. At this point I prefer to be comfortable.

I'm going to get some comfy sweats too.

I 've already been wearing loose fitting pants ~

Re: I went to the store...

Just today I was thinking that I need to at least start looking at grannie panties. Like some of you I have not worn them since I was a kid. I am researching to see if I can find something prettier looking than those in a bag. I wonder if Victoria Secret has any pretty ones. Someone mentioned that maybe not all hysterectomies require grannie panties. Does anyone have experience about that following LAVH. I would sure appreciate it. I had wondered if just hip huggers would work.

Re: I went to the store...

Wilma- First, I had a LAVH. Second, I do not like wearing underwear when I am at home hanging out in sweats. I wore my regular pants and underwear home from the hospital & ripped them off the second I walked in the door.....so tight from the air they put in you in surgery. I never had to wear undies during recovery because I only spotted when I wiped. Also when I did go out I wore my regular undies (not bikini's & not briefs...in between) and that worked out fine. I only had 2 incisions. One by the belly button & one by my hip. So i made sure the underwear did not go near the belly button incision.
