breast/nipple tenderness 9 days post op?

Last night I had a new experience. My nipples were extremely sore. It was the same type of tenderness than I had with PMS and/or the first few days of my period, only it was mainly on the left breast and it radiated to my shoulder/armpit. Motrin helped, but I still have some tenderness. I would have normally started my period between the 17th and 21st, but I had my LAVH on the 17th. I'm thinking it's just my body reacting to the changes along with what it would have normally done at this point, though I think I'll call my doctor this afternoon anyway because it was very painful and made sleeping even more impossible than it has been since the surgery.

I posted this as part of my recovery progress, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this happen too? I didn't expect it. I knew I'd have the pinkish discharge for a little while as I was healing, but I thought all the PMS symptoms would be nonexistent now.

Re: breast/nipple tenderness 9 days post op?

if you have your ovaries than its pretty common to still get PMS sympyoms .. I am 8 weeks post op and have already experienced 2 faux PMS episdoes its a lil frustrating because i had no idea that I would still get sore bloated and even crampy after a hysterectomy .. but most of the time an ovary left in will function and functioning means that your body will produce an egg and try to send it down to your uterus even if your uterus isnt there .. good luck and feel better soon
