Forgetting everything!

I feel so silly...I can't remember anything anymore.
I work at the middle school and when talking to the kids I forget things mid-sentence. When talking to co-workers I just go blank, they must think I have totally lost my mind. The worst was this morning...I have forgot to make my kids lunches for school (I have never ever done that before). Is this all because I am so preoccupied with the upcoming surgery? or what? I hope, I hope, I hope that after the surgery I regain some part of my brain, cuz at the rate I am going there will be none left!

I do have a question that I have been meaning to ask, I feel stupid asking it since I feel I "should" already know this but, here goes anyways...What happens to the egg during a cycle if you no longer have your uterus? Does it just disappear into your system? I was told by my doc that I will still have PMS, still have a cycle, but no period bcause of having no uterus/cervix. I am keeping my ovaries. This thought occured to my husband, I hadn't really thought about it before, so I didn't have an answer for him...can anyone help out?

Eggs

Hi Deb,

The egg is just reabsorbed back into your body. It's so tiny anyway, it wouldn't even matter.

Best wishes to you on your surgery. And don't worry, you'll get your memory back afterwards. I did!

s,

Lisa

Forgetting everything!

Dear DebbC,

Lisa is exactly right - the ovaries still produce eggs but because the eggs are not fertilized, they dissolve in the abdomen. I'm having the same surgery as you and keeping my ovaries too. While it is true that we might still experience PMS, I've been told by other sisters here that in time, it gets less and less.

Another plus for keeping the ovaries is that we won't have to deal with HRT's or experience surgical menopause and hot flashes.

About the memory problem, include me in! Last week at work one of my co-workers asked me a question and I stood there, thinking, I know the answer to that but I was completely blank! Completely blank! My memory is poor at best, normally, but now, there's not even the tiniest hint of help coming into my brain! The sisters here call it "brain fog" but I think I have "brain blizzard".

Locked Keys in car!!!!

Debb,

About 2 weeks before my surgery, I locked my keys in the car at work. Had to take my bosses truck and drive home to get the other set of keys. Got home....no one home to let me in!!!!! Also had a DR appointment that day. Had to cancel the appointment, because I had to get the truck back to work so the boss could keep his appointment. I tried calling my mom on her cell phone, which she had with her, but she did not have it on. Why did I buy her a cell phone if she does not turn it on, just carry's it in her purse?????

So you see, we all get

Good luck and relax, you are normal, just like the rest of us.
