Its not that bad!

Ladies,
I am here to tell you that on Thursday the 12th of August I too had my full abdominal hysterectomy with a BSO. I made it, and it really was not that bad! I was very blessed with great nurses, and Drs. who talked and walked me throught it all. Many of you can recall the anxiety I had-because of a 6.2cm complex cyst. Everything turned out just fine. I lost some blood, and I am very anemic, but the Dr. says that in a couple of weeks I will be as good as new.
I also want you to know that for me-I was only on narcotics the first day only. They switched me (I asked) over to 600 mg. of Ibuprohen. I have been just fine. (Not to say this is right for you). Today I came home, and I do know that I can't do alot of things, and I need to be patient. I wanted to let most of you pre-oppies know-the anticipation is really the very worse.
Remember to educated yourself so you understand everything that is happening. Don't forget to write down any little question you may have for you medical team. Get up and sit on the edge of the bed as soon as they let you. Walk, and drink fluids.
You will be just fine.
I now am a Post-oppie and just wanted to let all of you know this before I move over. I have been blessed by my support group and God, and will pray for all of you.
Good-luck
Lindi

Its not that bad!

Greetings from your neighbor to the north in Washington!

Thanks for posting your experience, and I'm thrilled to hear you're doing so well! With a week to wait, I'm relieved to hear/read that things went well for you. I'm quite certain my anticipation is much worse than the event (that always happens with me!), but it's awfully nice to hear it from someone else too. Since I've made it through major dental surgery twice, and ambulatory surgery on ibuprofen alone (after the initial anesthetic worse off), I'm hopeful I won't need narcotics for very long either. We'll see!

Best to you!

Ann
