Anyone else have a TAVH and Bladder Sling
Hi!
Wasn't sure if you meant a TVH (total vag hyst) or TAH (total abd hyst) or LAVH (lap asst vag hyst). I had a TVH with bladder sling in October. I had stress incontinence that wasn't that bad either, just a small nagging concern over the last few years. I almost didn't even mention it to my doc (new this past year) when we were discussing my options for my other concerns. When I brought up the incontinence, he said it was better to take care of that at the same time as my hyst, as when you 'mess around down there' with surgery (the hyst) it can cause problems with the bladder. If there is already a concern, it can make it worse. Also, the recovery time is the same for the sling and the hyst, so for me it made sense to do it at the same time. If you have done the urodynamics, you've made it through the worst part The one thing I would say is that I still tend to get a bit tender at times where the 2 small incisions were for the sling, about 1-2" below my 'hair line'. I have not had any leaks since the surgery, and so I'm quite glad I had it done. I have heard of others who began having problems after their hyst, who never had problems before, so makes me think maybe my doc knew what he was talking about.
Hope this helps!
