postmenopausal bleeding returns

I can’t seem to get a handle on my postmenopausal bleeding-Here’s my history, last year in May and Sept,I had bleeding, so my doctor did a D&C with hysteroscopy in Nov 07.I was aware that I had simple hyperplasia 14mm thick from ultra sound. After the procedure polypectomy, lots of polyps. He said I should be fine. One month later more bleeding. So he put me on Provera for 20 days, and said that If I bleed after that dose I will need a regular Hrt routine. I don’t want to go down that road. Well of course two weeks after my last dose of Provera bleeding again.I would like to know what if I just let my bleeding go, it usually last 21 days or so then stops for a couple of months. Has anyone else just let it go? Any input is welcome. Thanks,Mary

postmenopausal bleeding returns

Hi ,

Sorry you are having a lot of bleeding. I don't think it would be a good thing to bleed that long, as one could become anemic with a low blood count.

If you are not satisfied with what your doctor has to offer, then perhaps a second opinion would be helpful.

I hope things get better for you.

i think the best thing you could do is get a second opinion..it never hurts to hear what another dr thinks and it might be something you want to try.

postmenopausal bleeding returns

Hi Mary, Post-menopausal bleeding needs to be checked out. I noticed you had simple hyperplasia so you'll also want to be sure this did not return as left untreated it may lead to pre-cancer or even cancer.
If you see your current gyn and he recommends HRT for this you can always seek another opinion. In fact since you believe he will recommend HRT and you're hoping to avoid this, there may be merit in seeking that second opinion first.
Pls let us know how you make out.
