Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Dec 27, 2015
I have also been having tons of morbid thoughts about not waking up from surgery, but also waking up during surgery (make up your mind brain! am I going to die or wake up?!). I am 30 with two kids and my surgery is Tuesday the 29th. I think it's the kids that have me thinking about it to the point of tears this time (though the thought of leaving my husband makes me just as emotional). Anyway, I don't really have any advice or anything, just wanted to let you know you're not alone in your thoughts. I have had two previous surgeries for endometriosis that I thankfully woke up after, so here's hoping this time is the same and for you as well! Hugs momma.

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Dec 27, 2015
Hi ladies! I am scheduled to have my RALH with Salpingectomy on Wednesday the 30th. I am 40 and have seven children ranging in age from 22-1. My biggest concern is sticking to the lifting restriction when it comes to my one year old. She is about 27-28 pounds and not walking yet. I am also starting to get a little nervous about the surgery itself. I will be glad when it is over with and I am on the road to recovery!! Good luck to all of my fellow hystersisters having surgery this week may we ALL have a safe surgery and a speedy recovery. I have to admit I am looking forward to reading a few new books, magazines and watching some good movies on the blu-ray player 😜😂

Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Dec 27, 2015
Hey! I am 30 with two beautiful children and an amazing husband who I've been married to for seven years (but I've known him since I was 12). I have had two previous laparoscopies to remove endometriosis and after fertility struggles and two miracle babies, it's coming back and I am done living my life in pain. I am set for a full hysterectomy on Tuesday, December 29th. I'm mostly excited, but I am nervous about all the unknowns of what will happen after, as well as having morbid thoughts of not waking up from surgery. I am trying to focus on the positive and hope that all will be successful and I can finally live my life as joyfully and happy as my heart feels and not have it clouded over by the awful side effects I experience as a result of the endometriosis almost daily.
Good luck to all of the rest of you going through your surgeries this week!

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Dec 27, 2015
Hello,
I am 44, married in 2009, no children. As a repeat fibroid sufferer, I've had 3 abdominal myomectomies to remove as many as 21 fibroids at one time, and I have the scars to prove it (2 done through the bikini line, one vertical cut). I've been severely anemic and on 2 daily iron pills for months. My hysterectomy, another abdominal surgery because of scar tissue and enlarged uterus size, is scheduled for Tuesday Dec 29.
I am not so worried about the surgery, having been through the myomectomies. But when I had those, my mother was still alive and available to help me through recovery. Now my support system is untested (mostly mother-in-law---AIGH!), and I don't think any of them really understand what kind of help I'm going to need over the next few days. I've also got a badly sprained ankle and am wearing a walking boot, so I'm already going into recovery with an extra strike against my mobility.

I have had two D&C's, however the bleeding always starts back again eventually. This last time was the worst. Two months straight and severe anemia. I believe the anemia caused my hair to start falling out. I have fought surgery hoping for menopause but I feel that it is time to move on as I have been too tired to function. I have yet to speak to any woman who was sorry she had the surgery. Only you can make this decision but take heart that many have gone before you with excellent results. Best of luck to you.

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Dec 27, 2015
I am 49. I have a son 25, and two daughters 17. I am having a umbilical hernia fixed and a hysterectomy (due to fibroids) on December 29. I am nervous which I think is pretty normal. My major concern is just the recovery after the surgery. I will be in the hospital a couple nights which I think will be for the best. I would love any advice and recovery stories.

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy: Open House Chat Thread - Today Dec 27, 2015
Hi friends! I'm Christy, 45, 3 great kids and one angel baby. I have 2 boys ages 14 and 12 and a girl who's 6. Since the birth of my daughter, my periods have been super heavy with palm sized clots. I've been anemic and had to sit out 2-3 days each month due to the heavy flow. Couldn't leave the house really.
I am scheduled for a LAVH on 12/31. It's deemed outpatient so I do not plan on spending the night in the hospital. My emotions have been all over the place and part of me wonders if I'm just overreacting and my periods aren't really that bad after all!
I'm grateful to have found and joined this group and I wish all of us a better life on the other side. HUGS to all of you!

I had tried the pill you take at the beginning of your period, I believe it was called lysteda. It did not help one bit. Talked about ablation but again, no guarantee that would even work. Also talked about birth control. Didn't want to go back down that road again, on trying to find a pill that didn't make you nauseous as heck. So hysterectomy was the only logical choice for me. :-)
