Upcoming surgery jitters

My surgery is scheduled for 08/31. I am 57 and postmenopausal for about six or seven years.

I have had 2 LEEPS one 17 years ago, one 2 years ago. My Paps were normal up until the first one, and then went back to normal all the way up to the second one two years ago, which I had a colposcopy and a LEEP, which the doctor informed me he found absolutely nothing abnormal and suspected it might have been a "false positive." and the Paps have been normal for 4 times since. I was able to go back to yearly.

A few weeks ago I had a little bleeding, amounting to about a teaspoon full, lasted one day or less, and had "sore nipples" for a few days, felt like I had a "mini period." I did not thik too much of it. I went to my new primary care, mentioned this to her, and it was time for my yearly pap, which she did, and it showed "endometrial cells, unusual for a woman in my age group" so I was sent for a uterine ultrasound which came back pretty good except for a thickened endometrial lining, and was referred to a GYN. The GYN said my cervix was too stenosed and too high up from the previous LEEPS to get an endometrial biopsy so she sent me to a GYN surgeon, and she expected him to do a D&C but he was adamant he felt I should have a hysterectomy since I am postmenopausal, have had 2 kids, and no longer desire fertility.

He then went on to tell me that 85% of the time this condition is benign, but there is a 15% chance of precancerous or even cancerous changes. That is a small percentage but does not keep me from being scared to death.

Anyway, this is my first major surgery, nervous about it, and also the results but will be glad when it is over.
