Bloating Pain

Hi all, hope someone can offer advice. I had my TAH on Wednesday, 24th. All went well except for my bladder was knicked so I had a catheter until Saturday morning. Released from hospital on Saturday.
Home at last, wonderful. My biggest complaint is I feel huge, my stomach feels bloated. I am not constipated and am passing gas.
Any suggestions what can help.
I see the doctor tomorrow to have staples removed and will ask there but thought someone might be able to offer other advise.

I had LAVH BSO same day - like you, no bowel troubles but still swollen. When I cough, I feel like I'm holding a big, no HUGE stomach to me.

To be fair, I'm not tiny with a big stomach, but it's still bigger than normal!

I'll be watching here for suggestions!

Hi, TAH on Tues 23rd here. My gas finally seemed to let up just today. My stomach is huge, I'm using the abdominal binder at night when I sleep, I can't tolerate it yet during the day. I hold my swollen belly to laugh or cough, I fear my first sneeze!! haha!

My TAH-BSO was on the 24th also. I was feeling like a huge pressure was in my stomach, until this afternoon. I have been passing gas, but did not have a bowel movement until today. When my bowels finally let loose, I finally felt free of all the pressure behind my incision. You need to remember that since your uterus is no longer there, something else is now filling the void. Your bowels and bladder have more room. They have probably shifted. At least this is the explanation my doc gave me.
Hope this helps.....Oh...plus the swelly belly doesn't go away for quite awhile. So our tummy's will be a little more extended until we are healed.

Sneezing and coughing are definitely painful, but better when the staples come out. As far as gas - don't drink sodas (I had to give up my DP's), and I take GasX to help. Drink water and juice - cranberry, grape, orange..it helps with constipation issues, also. The gas is there because when they open you up, they use gas to separate everything. I'm not sure of the technical descriptions, that's just how my dr explained it. The gas eventually absorbs into your bowels, and you know where it goes from there. I remember about 5 days out, I finally passed gas and it felt SO good!
