Simple question for post op sisters

Hi Irae,

Tomorrow, it will be two weeks since my TAH. Following my surgery, I spent five nights in the hospital.

The length of stay definitely varies from one person to the next. I'm sure what others have already said will be true - that the hospital will not let you go before you're ready.

Best wishes and HUGS to you!

Simple question for post op sisters

Hi,

I went in on 3-26 and was released on 3-28. I was surprised at the quick release since the doc has initially estimated 5 days. I am glad to be home though.

If you have very much of a travel distance from the castle to your home, ASK FOR PAIN MEDICINE BEFORE DISCHARGE. That was my only regret. I had not had anything from 10 pm the night before until I left the castle at noon. The ride home was only 20 minutes but I was miserable. I wasn't in much pain at the hospital so I didn't think about it.

On the wheelchair ride out, the 200 yr old volunteer that was driving ran the chair into the wall at about 20 miles an hour. I hope I'm that fast at that age Thank God my sense of humor wasn't removed with my uterus. The bumpy roads after that just continued to aggravate the pain.

I had tvh with posterior repair
Good luck,

2 Nights

I went in on Thursday, 2/28, at 9:30 a.m. had surgery 11 a.m. I was released on Saturday after lunch. I could have stayed up until midnight, but when they lost half of my wonderful liquid lunch, I know it was time to go home. The insurance company only approved 2 days. Wonder when the last time they had major surgery was?????

Good luck, Nancy
