Still in pain

I am 2 weeks post op and am still in pain and very swollen. Is this normal? I plan on talking to the dr tomorrow for a refill on my RX. Do I sound like a baby?

Still in pain

Everyone is different. Some sisters need nothing but Tylenol a couple of days post op. Others (like me) need occasional pain meds longer. I am still taking them, not every day, but after a lot of activity. I think the type of procedure, the extent of problems pre op, and the amount of corrective "work" done in addition to the hysterectomy also make a difference.

Please do talk to your doctor about the type and severity of your pain. He may need to check to make sure that you are having "normal" pain, and do not have anything else going on.

Still in pain

Hi Moomflowers,
you are definetly NOT A BABY.
I was feeling great and yesterday, someway somehow I stepped and turned at the same time and it was the WRONG step and WRONG way to turn. I immediately felt a streatch and it felt like I had pulled a muscle in my tummy. Last night I was in ALOT of pain, and took my pain meds once again. I am still in pain today, not exruciating, but not comfortable. I am going to be making a call to my Dr. in the morning to see if she can refill my RX as well. I hope that I didn't tear something that wasn't supposed to be torn.
Good luck with everything, and take your time- don't rush your healing process.

Thank you for the information. By the way, I had a TAH with BSO. Did I say that right?

Still in pain

I was still taking pain meds at 2 weeks. Eased up for me about 2.5 weeks and I have only taken an occassional ibuprofen in the last week. You need to listen to your body. If you need the refill, ask for it.

Still in pain

Dear Moonflowers,

I had a TAH/BSO the day before you had your surgery. I went for my two-week post-op check-up with my gynecologist on Friday. My one complaint was the persistent soreness and pain that I feel in the swollen part of my abdomen. I had been off my pain meds for several days, but the doctor immediately gave me a prescription for ibuprofen during the day and percocet at night. She also recommended wearing a girdle at all times, even in bed. I have been wearing support panties and it has helped. Hope that you are feeling better soon.

Take care,

Cindy
