SAH 10th Day

Hi all,

New to the site, but *so* glad it's here.

I had my hysterectomy on June 5th. Had a horrible couple of days in hospital but started feeling much better once I was home.

I had two pedunculated fibroids, and a huge cyst on one ovary. I still have my cervix and the other ovary.

I am feeling what must be hot flashes. Would this make sense even though I still have an ovary? Could it just be initial post-op issues? I'd really appreciate some insight. (The window is open, it's cool out and I'm really warm when I am usually always cold.)

Other than that, I am having some bladder issues, which I assume will calm down soon (or at least hope so!). I am always tired but that is only to be expected.

I am going for my post-op checkup on Wednesday. Crossing fingers everything is okay.

Thanks to anyone who responds in advance.

Re: SAH 10th Day

Hello Caroline...I had menopausal symptoms when I returned home...thinking what the heck is going on....my ovaries went to sleep because of the surgery and it took them about 3 months to wake up....the hot flashes and night sweats...plus the mood swings got less in less over time. Give yourself time and let your body get readjusted. This was a rough surgery you went through!!! Good luck to yea!!!

Re: SAH 10th Day

Ditto for me on the ovaries waking back up after a few months. I used an otc progesterone cream for a bit which helped me with the hot flashes and sleep issues. Welcome to the site!
