Leg Things?????

You mean the intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) pump?? They are also called lymphedema pumps.

They sure do feel good and they are used to prevent/treat edema (swelling) of the legs and they are also used to prevent deep vein thrombosis. They work by forcing statis or stagnant blood out of the legs and back thru the rest of the circulatory system. They are also used on the arms of women who have undergone mastectomy to treat lymphedema of the arm.

After a 12-14 hour shift on my feet, I sure wish I had one of these machines at home!

Leg Things?????

I had the IPC pump, and it really felt good. Since I had to lie on my back for 24 hrs., it kept me from feeling so twitchy and fidgety. I was surprised to find that I could sleep even with them inflating and deflating regularly. I guess the pain meds might have helped a little on that, too!
