One week post op

Hi Ladies

Had my TAH on 28 May. Spent 3 nights in hospital being pampered by some amazing nurses. Bent over a bit on Friday but more upright and comfortable now. Sleeping well and resting lots. Only issue is passing stools. Tried laxatives - first time for me at 46 to shove something up my bum! Not really working so trying the traditional route - bran, fruit and lots of water. Anyone else as thirsty as me? 2-3l per day!. Taking it easy as instructed and feeling better every day. Best thing - no bleeding!

I had my surgery may 29. Soo far its been good, minimal pain, really soar, not thirsty, very little apetite, minimal spotting, and l

want to make sure I don't do too.

Re: One week post op

Hi Dent. I also had a TAH (plus oophorectomy) on May 29th. Two days after, I started taking a stool softener, then two days after that, the bowel movements started, so don't worry
I've also been eating very healthy - lots of vegetables, fruit, oatmeal, fish, chicken, brown rice, mashed potatoes, whole wheat pasta, approx. 2L of water/day, 1 mug of coffee in the morning.
I'm able to move around the house alot better now, but frustrating that walking is still slow going...in time!

Re: One week post op

Oh how did you come off the meds? And what were you sent home with? I'm still bunged up and think it could be the cocodermol

Re: One week post op

Hi Lib. I went home with Tylenol 3. It was only a 3 day supply, but that was OK for me. While taking this, it's important to take stool softener pills (2 per day).
