Is laparoscopic surgery always morcellation?

I'm confused about the minimally invasive options for hysterectomy. I know that I don't want morcellation due to the possible risks of cancer spread. One doc said I would be a candidate for minimally invasive surgery but another at the same hospital said I had to do open give the size and the amount of fibroids I have. Can anyone help clarify this for me? I'm panicking a bit b/c I need to get these taken care of - I've been suffering for far too long and they are only continuing to grow! Any help wood be greatly greatly appreciated.

Hi. I have been looking into both options. I have decided to go with te open option. I got a second opion fron a surgeon that only does it laparscopically. She says everything is done lap. Then the uterus is pulled through the vaginal cuff. I asked her what happens of for some reason the uterus didnt fit through the vag. Openong she said she would core it but it goes into a bag before she cores it. I didn.t like the thought of thay so i dcidd to go with open.

How big is/are your fibroids? I know it depends on several other factors beside the size itself, but my surgeon told me he's done very large fibroids (25 cm) through lap. In Canada he told me they always do an uterine biopsy first to make sure there is no cancer, and morcellate using a bag IF necessary.
