Very nervous!!!
Hi, well I have my pre test tomorrow and I hope I finally get a date because sometimes I'm thinking of changing my mind and not going through with it!!!! I really suffer bad for two weeks of every month but on my good weeks I think I can handle this for another 20 years , but I know that I can't. My mom, Grandmom and great Grandmom all had to have one because of endometreosis and they were all fine afterwards and it improved their lives a lot . That is comforting to me but I'm still scared !!! I think I must have gained 20 pounds in the last few weeks from stress eating which I never did before. I had an ablation which failed so this is the next step for me. I also have to stop reading so many things. It's good to know a lot but I should stop some things are scaring me more. Thanks ladies for letting me vent!!!

Re: Very nervous!!!
Hi, I'm 29 and 3 and a half weeks post op TAH and LSO, while there is some pain and discomfort involved in the surgery, the reward after it of having no bleeding, no more debilitating pain and no risk of cancer any more in those organs is totally worth it!!! I'm ready and keen to start a whole new life for myself!! You will have support from your family and friends but also from your "sisters" on here!!! Never feel like you will be alone, and think about all the positives this surgery will offer you.... Keep posting when you feel afraid or down about things but also post when you feel great so that other women in your shoes right now can have some positive reassurance!! Il be thinking of you, you can do this..... You've got this!! xx

I had a DVH 16 days ago and am feeling better already! My ablation lasted for about 2 years, ok period for about a year then this.....5 month sized uterus full of fibroids and in extreme pain for 3 months! I was nervous also but it has been a good recovery so far and am looking forward to no more problems. Best of luck to you. This website is a great place to be xox

Re: Very nervous!!!
Hi msmelanie74-
Being nervous regarding this surgery is very normal. This is one tough surgery to face and process. This is MAJOR SURGERY, and should not be taken lightly. It is a balance as to what is best for your long term health. If you wish, you can talk to your doctor about other options, or you can get other opinions on your condition.
You need to make the decision that is right for you. We will support you.

Re: Very nervous!!!
Thank you very much ladies!!! I've talked to a few different doctors now and we pretty much ruled out trying anymore chemical hormones as I had a terrible time with them. The ablation was my last hope before the hysterectomy and that failed from the start so I guess this is it. I'm glad you are doing well and hope your recovery continues to go smoothly. I made up my mind to go through with it but just get really nervous sometimes. I hope I get a date that's soon so I have less time to worry and stress over it and I also do not want another period. They take away two weeks from me every month my life revolves around my period and I'm ready for it to end . It's really nice to hear from women who have been in the same situation . Nice to hear a little reassurance so thank you again...

Re: Very nervous!!!
I am glad you have analyzed all of your options with your doctor, as well gotten opinions from other doctors. And I hope you get your date soon so that you don't have to endure another 2-week period (ugh!).
Just know that having lots of emotions around this is very normal. We really understand what you are going through.

Re: Very nervous!!!
I am so glad to be reading your post. I just turned 29 two weeks ago and I feel like I am the only woman in her 20s to need a hysterectomy.
