Also I am B12 deficient - but not iron deficient.
It seems like there is such reluctance to do hysterectomy and I just wish after two years something would be done. I wonder what the criteria is to finally have a hysterectomy?
I am glad that you are feeling better and thanks for the info.

Hi Cheers.
I was told that you can only really detect adenomyosis when the uterus is sent to pathology after hysterectomy. But I have seen on this site that some women had an MRI done and adenomyosis was seen on MRI so that is how they were given their diagnosis.
I had to take 3 birth control pills per day to control the bleeding..I did that for 2 weeks and then the bleeding got heavier and the clots were so huge the doctor then put me on Provera and this stopped the clots and I just had bleeding that was between medium to heavy at that point. And my doctor said if this isn't going to help then chances are nothing but a hysterectomy will help. (just remember I had 5 abdominal surgeries that made me not be a candidate for ablation) So of course the pathology came back with sever adenomyosis and a huge ovarian cyst they had to remove. You know I don't what the criteria is for waiting as long as you have had to wait. You know I have always had heavy painful periods since childhood, but I went to see the gyne after I was severly anemic with all of this bleeding and 3 months later I had a hysterectomy. My doctor just told me that with his experience, if the bcp or Provera do not help than nothing is going to do except for hysterectomy. So I trusted him and we scheduled the hysterectomy for a month later.
Good luck to you. I hope they take you seriously. Let me know how your appt. goes

Re: non stop bleeding
They take a lot into consideration before doing a Hysterectomy, do have children do you want children, your age and severity of your symtoms. I am 39 have 4 children 17, 14,12,4....My husband and I are done!!! My problems were sever like yours, pain, bleeding enlarged uterus (3 times the normal size, that of a 12 week pregnancy) My ob Doc ordered a Vaginal ultrasound and saw the Adenomyosis(thickening in the uterine muscle wall) He did say I could try birth control to REGULATE the bleeding or a iu device, but there is no cure for adenomyosis so being that I have children and do not plan to have any more the uterine Hysterrectomy is my cure and so far so good day 5! No pain, no bleeding!

Re: non stop bleeding
I am so glad I had it done....I was a little irregular with BM's until this morning! That was from the anestesia.... a little swelly belly but nothing compared to the was I was feeling before my surgery. If I were asked to give my opinion on yes or no to do it...I would say yes all the given the fact that you are no longer going to have children....I have been blessed with 4 and now I have to take care of me so I can be mom & wife again. I have been miserable the last 7 mos, not knowing what was wrong with me and now that I know and have taken care of it I can now see that light again at the end of the tunnel. I know that God is in control and puts us in situations so that we can grow and help others along the way, that is where I always want to be. I am so thankful for my Dr's and the OR staff and the hospital staff they were all great. Thank you Lord! I stayed one night and was glad to get back to my own bed even though they were all wonderful to me. I was scared too....but anticipated the best!

Re: non stop bleeding
I think I am beginning to understand, pain management (no luck so far) and trying to control the bleeding, and a lot of testing- so maybe hysterectomy is kind of last resort? I have only being taking double dose of seasonal b/c for two days of the recommended three, but now I am bleeding heavier then before I started them. I am due for pelvic ultrasound in six- eight weeks (on a cancellation list) and I am taking B12 / and Iron for anemia. So the hope for me is things might get better. I just wish I had energy. I have two goals in amongst this get up, and exercise. Make that three lose weight. I am so tired I sleep all the time- and that in itself is a losing battle. I am so eager to read what people on here on doing to cope and the different stories make me realize patience and perseverance are key players in getting better.
Thank you for sharing.........I will keep posting - it helps to "talk"!!!
