Banking Blood and Antibiotics ??'s

Hi again,
I'm wondering if anyone who has never given blood has banked their blood prior to surgery?
I very much want to do this but have never given blood in my life... have to drive an hour to do this so I'm scared.
And
I'm allergic to pretty much every antibiotic, just had to stop one for a tooth issue. Dr. doesn't seem to concerned about this but if anyone has had an infection after surgery and can give me a heads up on what type antibiotics are used for this, it would be very helpful in my preparations.

There are several broad-spectrum (effective against a wide range of bacteria) antibiotics available. Hopefully if you provide a list of your drug allergies (and your reactions) they can find a safe one for you. Next time you see your doctor ask him about this so you can cross some worries off your list as you go. I’m only allergic to one antibiotic that I know of, but I’ve yet to find a narcotic that doesn’t make me itch. Our bodies are complex machines, aren’t they?

I'm not anemic and probably will bank my own blood.
Screening is apparently just asking a person if they think they have HIV or Hep. I know that having cin111 excludes me from donating.
